Headless Commerce for a Menswear Brand
A fashion magazine on the surface, Shopify underneath
The Elevated Gentleman combines editorial content, subscriptions and styling services in one brand. I built a custom React storefront on Shopify so features, bylines and weekly finds read like an editorial site while the full commerce machinery runs underneath.
Challenge
It must not look or behave like a Shopify store
The brand wanted the editorial weight of a magazine, the conversion machinery of a DTC brand and the subscription model of a styling platform. Themes could not deliver the typography, the layouts or the hybrid product and service flows.
Solution
Shopify APIs for commerce, custom APIs for the rest
I used Shopify for catalogue, cart and checkout, and built custom APIs for subscriptions and styling-service bookings. One-time purchases and recurring subscriptions sit in the same cart, and third-party services plug into a multi-API backend.
Result
Live for members
The storefront is live behind member sign-in, with editorial, commerce and styling bookings unified in a single checkout.
