Gamified Learning for a Seven Sisters College
Fund Your Future, a student portal that makes money skills stick
For the Conway Center at Smith College I designed and built a multi-track learning platform with scenario based modules and games: an ATM simulation, a Tetris style compound interest round, a credit score builder. It serves 2,500+ students across 48 states and 67 countries, with engagement tracking for the administrators behind it.
Challenge
Financial literacy was not landing with undergraduates
Students found the topic dry and traditional teaching was not driving engagement. The college also needed a modern way to track progress and engagement across a diverse, international student body.
Solution
Interactive modules, games and progress tracking
I built the app on React, TypeScript and Firebase: curriculum aligned units, interactive simulations, assessments and a student dashboard, with engagement data flowing to administrators. The design meets accessibility and institutional requirements.
Result
Measurably better engagement and comprehension
Engagement and comprehension improved over the previous curriculum. Across the iterative cycles I managed 142+ feedback items from the college, and the platform is now preparing for its wider launch.
